The Center for Autism’s experienced facilitators offer specialized autism training to individuals, groups & businesses working in a variety of settings. Through our training courses, participants will learn more about autism & how to address the unique needs of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Our goal is to help create a community that is more inclusive & understanding of people with ASD.

Training length & specific topics can be customized to your needs. Participants of each training can expect to:

  • Gain an understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and the diagnostic criteria.
  • Learn about core deficits of Autism and provide general examples of possible behaviors/symptoms that may present from each category.
  • Increase understanding of how a person with autism may experience a crisis situation or medical emergency.
  • Improve understanding of sensory processing disorder and how it affects taking in the world.
  • Consider and adjust communication and de-escalation responses as needed.
  • Leave with resources for themselves as well as to share with community/ clients.

Autism 101
An engaging training designed to help your team feel more comfortable interacting with customers, clients and co-workers with ASD.

Diving Deeper into the Spectrum
This extended session will build upon the Autism 101 training by offering more detailed understanding of issues like sensory processing, communication and behaviors. Additionally, training will provide practical skills for connecting with individuals with ASD.

Environmental Consultation
This consultation and training will address how to make your space more sensory friendly and safe for individuals with ASD.

First Responders/Security Guards
An extensive training that provides an overview of Autism Spectrum Disorder, and teaches practical skills for how to work with an individual who may be in crisis or a dangerous situation. We also offer MPOETC credits for training police offers in Pennsylvania.  Learn more here >

Emergency Room/Hospital Staff
Skills training for all levels of staff, from support staff to medical professionals. As well as a basic environmental consultation of the ER where a person may come through in crisis.

Katie L. Greble, MA ATR-BC LPC

Katie has been serving the autism & special needs community in various roles for over 20 years. A licensed practicing counselor, Katie provides customized autism training to mental health organizations, community agencies, and first responders.  She has also presented at regional and national conferences.

Katie’s passion for creating a community that is inclusive of people on the autism spectrum is evident through her deep understanding of the disorder and in her approachable presentation style.
